When I bought my Freelander there was an issue with the rear window dropping. This was traced to the microswitch for the tailgate door showing as open all the time. I disconnected the microswitch which stopped the window dropping on its own. When I went to open the tailgate, the window would drop when I pulled the handle in and would go back up when I let go of the handle so I had to pull the handle in and hold it until I had shut the tailgate. I lived with it like this for a while until one of the cables snapped and wrapped itself around the mechanism. I replaced the whole window winding mechanism and the window worked as it had been for about a week and then it started playing up. I disconnected the battery to try and reset the system and do the recalibration, this didn't work. I took the tailgate actuator out and fixed the microswitch for the door open warning, refitted it all and reconnected the plug I had previously had disconnected. There was no longer a permanent tailgate open warning with the tailgate shut, one problem fixed. I opened the tailgate and the glass dropped when I pulled the handle and stayed down when I released the handle, thought this was looking good. I closed the door and nothing happened, the glass didn't rise to the closed position. I disconnected the battery for a while to try the recalibration after reconnecting it. Upon reconnecting the battery, the glass didn't move, it stayed where it was. When I press the switch to raise the glass it moves roughly an inch or 2 and then beeps, sometimes when it does that it will raise the glass and then drop it an inch or 2. I'm confused :(
