Hi All

Does anyone know where I can get a decent steering wheel (smaller than the original) that can withstand a bit of punishment ??

48 spline, Series III steering column....

I had one of those after market boss kit and crappy wheel jobbies but it didn't last too long off road.... it flexed far too much, and eventually broke one of the arms.

Cheers

Craig

i had a 13" steering wheel on mine and it was fine - with a Series you need to coax it, not use brute force - all you do is strain the steering components.

yu fixed your motor yet, Disco?

I have one of these if yu need it;)..

ffs - its a steering wheel!

yu obviously aint taken yo front wings off yet - its a nearside innerwing complete with top-hat section (my own design).

lol
I sed if yu want a hand - just shout - i am on standby if yu need a hand - its quiet here at the mo. Cant do next wednesday tho.

oh - and seriously - you may not need that bit - need to look-see first.

I've got a 15" Leather Mountney wheel, what a pile of ****. It bends so easily, Mountney have replaced it foc once, but this one is just as bad.
I'm looking for a decent quality replacement with metal parts that are stronger than tin foil

Hi Spyderman

Yeah I had the same problem with my old pile of crap steering wheel.... probably made in the same sweat shop some place....
I don't want to purchase another crappy one.

I need something a wee tad stronger than tin foil that will fit the steering column. If all else fails think am looking at metro wheel or something.

Do any of the modern landy ones fit ?? I know the 200TDi doesn't (tried and tested)

think mines of an old mistro its only bout 1 1/2 small so dosent realy effect leaverage and dont keep banging me elbows on the door when off raoding

cssbutler, I went to Mountney's Head Office to take the old one back, that had buckled after 2 days. I would have been happy to pay more for something of better quality. It's the right size, 15" still gives enough leverage, feels nice to use, leather is good, just the metal that's way too flimsy. I might try Momo or some other make, hopefully something that will go on the Mountney Boss.

The Maestro or Montego wheel fit, but to do the job properly you may need to attack it with an angle driver and drill, as the lock tab is different.
From memory the Maestro just uses a star type lock washer under the nut, but is is a full size nut. The Series III uses a thinwall nut, so not being an engineer I don't know if the lock washer would secure it, so you need something for the Series lock tab to lock onto.

I meant to add I've seen many with Metro wheels, I think a bit smaller. I suspect the same applies about lock washers.
