Hi guys,

Need some advice about this.

I ordered a set of Koni shocks for my 1997 Defender 110 300 Tdi. I got sent a set, but when installing the rear I noticed a weird behaviour of the lower rubbers - it seems like they are of the wrong type. I have taken a picture (see attached) of these rubbers when the axle is hanging off the shock (simulating an axle twister for example). And it all seems very wrong with the upper rubber detaching from the bracket and the lower being completely mangled and pushed outwards to a pancake. I also have a 1999 Defender 110 Td5 and the rubbers do look exactly like they do on the Td5, which has a sort of metal cylindrical sleeve part of the bracket, encapsulating the rubbers, preventing them to pancake like that. The rubbers that came off on the old shocks from the 300 Tdi do not look similar (they are of equal cylindrical thickness with a slight waist, typical part number 552818). The instructions coming with the Koni's also show this Td5 metal cylinder, which is not present on the 300 Tdi bracket.

What do you think? They are the wrong type right?
