Have a good idea how Im going to change the rear cross-member but just wanted to check if there are any TOP tips for the job.

My current plan is to measure the legs on the new one,
mark old chassis,
cut body to chassis bolts across the back,
loosen spring hanger bolts,
drop towing electrics and ball,
locate rear light loom and avoid cutting it,
support chassis just in front of spring hanger,
remove rear hanger bolts and allow axle to floor (do i remove shockers for more movment??)
cut chassis end off,
clean area for welding,
put new part on and bolt to body,
tack weld in place looking for final fit and alignment,
weld together (how do you weld the top part (hole thru floor??))
refit all that I have removed and paint.:D

Does it make sense and will it work??

Cheers

Measure the OLD one first with yer rear tub off. Take diagonal "Check" dimensions before you cut owt and work to these for re-assembly. Most importantly you will need to "sprag" the chassis rails to minimise movement before cutting out. Doing it this way enables you to get a good clean weld across the tops of the chassis rails.

Hope this helps mate.
