Seat height adjustment

Might be a silly question, but does anyone know of a way to lower the passenger seat?
(And before you ask, no it hasn't got height adjustable seats!)
Problem is the son in law is 6 foot 6 and has to slouch down to avoid smacking his head off the roof.
Is there a adjustment that can be made?

There are a couple of options available, dependent on model.

1. Open the sun roof.

2. If you are unfortunate enough not to own a sunroof, then it's leg chopping time.

The Freelander without a sunroof has and extra 1" of headroom as there's no roof mechanism to accommodate.
I expect the seat frame could be cut and rewelded. However it would need to be strong as the belt is anchored to it.

That's what I suspected.
Welding shouldn't be an issue. I work for an engineering firm with skilled welders so that's a possibility.
Think I'l find a weekend to take it out and have a think about it.

It may be that they are not meant to be modified due to safety issues with restraints and air-bags etc.

It was mainly the air bag height, I wondered if that was going to be a problem.

Probably... so as long as I don't hit anything it'll be fine.

my son in law and my friend have the same problem .but no way am I doing anything its their fault they eat all the Weetabix.

Personally i would not go that far, he may object. Just tell him to like it or lump it.

It's not a straight cut chopping a piece out of the seat base, I have one in bits at the moment. My initial thoughts are that you can only take about an inch and a half out of the base.

PS you're not the first to complain about the height of the seat. For us normal folk it is fine, indeed I find them extremely comfortable but for freaks like your son in law, a little less so. If cutting bits off him is not acceptable then the only answer is to shoot him and put him out of everyone's misery.
You could replace the seat with a height adjustable one from another make of car or cut and weld the frame you have but they seem like very extreme measures to me. The first solution is much more sensible.

Bring ot on... I produce a fair bit myself and I challenge anyone to have more tangly red tape than me.(And mine is sticky too)
