Is there any way to lower the driver seat since I find even with the steering wheel raised to full adjustment I cant see the top of the speedo when driving and if I put the sunshade down for low sun it blocks out most of my view through the windscreen?

had the same problem ( i'm 6' )
for speedo viewing i mounted a 'scangaugeII' forward of the steering wheel
for sunshade .. i bought a pair of copper-tinted sunglasses ..
at first i used a peaked-cap .. but the sunglasses work well on their own ..
and being copper-tinted .. work well even in murky conditions
( they filter out blue/green light .. resulting in better contrast .. less glare )

the sun-visor does get used .. but only rarely .. and briefly at that ..
to me the problem with the sun-visor ..
is that it won't stay in place when swung fully forward .. it drops slightly ..

as i wear corrective specs .. i use clip-ons / flip-ups ..

I'm tall enough that the sun is rarely a problem and I can deal with it when it is.

I really do need to lower the seat, but I want to do it right. Is there a way?

What's a scan gauge and how do you fit one?
Are they expensive to buy?

ScanGauge II - 3-in-one Automotive Computer (scangaugeII) - sgII - Linear Logic - Linear Logic product details - www.scangauge2.co.uk ( English Version )

Welcome to Scangauge Homepage - www.scangauge2.co.uk ( English Version )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
be other products for just the speedo
i.e. ones that display the speed info on the windscreen
less expensive than the scangauge .. i've no idea how good they are ..
not looked into it myself .. lowering the seat would screw my back up ..
getting a custom seat built might be a solution
How tall are you guys?
Im 6'0, I have the steering wheel in the fully up position, drivers seat is reclined a little and fully back on the rails - I can see the dials perfectly through the steering wheel.
To replicate the problem of not seeing the top of the speedo (steering wheel obscuring)
I had to raise myself to the point of my head touching the sunroof trim, the view through the windscreen is terrible while sat like this and probably dangerous :eek:
I'm also 6'0, but I have duck's disease- short legs. If legs were in proportion, I'd be 6'6.
Seat is back to the stops and reclined, I can see the speedo OK, but getting in & out is my problem, either the door is too low or the seat is too high. I'll try the seat before changing the bodywork.:rolleyes:
I'm much the same as you, except I have my seat about 3 notches from the back.
It's comfy and doesn't give me any jip on long journeys or when oft road:)
I am 6 foot 2 and I was shocked when I found the seat could not be lowered.
I have to drop my head a bit to see the top of the dash.
Not a good design.
Maybe they thought only short people would buy a Freelander!
try googling "custom car seats for tall people"
see what might display for tazmania / australia
maybe find a freelander1 seat at a breakers yard ..
'n see how it could be modified height-wise
there Must be a solution ..
as googling the above showed that it's not an uncommon problem ..
