I have a freelander td4 2002 which when I apply the brakes fairly hard makes a scraping noise on the nearside rear wheel after a few miles, I thought this was the linings worn but they were ok, but I did see that the drum had been scraping the back plate and one drum securing screw had broke, I replaced the shoes and drum with new, fitted new screws but the noise is still there, when the vehicle is loaded the wheel makes a loud clunking noise as well as the scraping noise and the hub, backplate and wheel gets very hot, do you think the wheel bearing is at fault although there is no play when I ty ry to move the wheel.

Cheers

How can u lub a sealed bearing? besides I would have to strip the hub right down to do it- why not just replace it??

the best thing i've found is a dap of copperslip, but it doesnt half chaif when your 4 hours in.

I see the Humour bypass has taken hold then... no signs of rejection at all? Good... good.

What difference does that make? Anyway, can't be, otherwise Grunt or MHM would have beaten slob to the first reply to the fred ;)
