thanks defo going to look into it, are you going?

Yes I should be there competing in the TYRO with either my RRC or Td5 Disco.
I'll see you there. The event details should be posted up over the weekend or start of the week.
I might be doing the scrutineering for the TYRO:cool:. If you want to take part on the day download a membership form and join on the day.

Cheers
Graeme

well spent most the morning carving a pumpkin :banana:

well got 3x1 meters of tint + tools for a fiver and gave my first shot at tinting and did ok until i was taking off the backing outside in gale force winds and put a little tear in the film beside the 3rd brake light except that it was perfect :mad: but will get it inside the garage and try it again with no wind :)

The pipe you are talking about is the vacuum hose for the EGR valve - now removed. If it has been blocked up leave it alone, if it hasn't it should be bunged up.

The towbar comes off easily by removing the large pin. The towbar mounting bracket has an array of nut and bolt fixings to be removed.

thanks for the reply, that explains the pipe as it had its egr valve removed...

but the towbar im confused about..

i tool out the pin+bolt and the tow ball came off then i started to remove the bolts to the chassis from the bottom rails of the towbar to find that there welded on?

here a pic of one of the bolts/weld.. (will get better ones when the sun comes out)

1= bar from towball
2= nut attaching it
arrow= weld around the edge

thanks

there is a falt plate section welded to the side of the chassis.

this points down in a sort of triangular shape, and butts up level against the bolt tube, which it is also welded to.

the side plate weld could be confusing you...

Not been on for a while due to moving house,waiting on broadband, snow and pup....

anyway back to car due to sun being back out...

Mot due on monday so thats at the top of my list..

35ed11ad.jpg

was out in the snow playing about as you do in a 4x4

6d030cca.jpg

i then ended up with the 3 amigos coming on every now and again so sorting that is at the top of the list..

first was to check wheel bearings so have jacked up all 4 wheels and only found play with the drivers front, but only left to right not up and down??
i thought you had play in every direction if it was a wheel bearing??
its not the track rod ends as there is no slack at all from them

also less than a week ago i have had misfiring at about 2.5-3k revs only under load so had a look at the vacuum hooses and found this one loose?? any ideas??

anyway carpeted the rear door to stop crap building up on the mdf..,

Hello Sam, that pipe looks to me by it's size and location to be associated with the wastegate modulator (WM). If I'm right this COULD explain the misfire at 2500rpm.

The WM is found on the side of the engine, a little box about 2" square with 3 pipes and an electrical connector attached to it - or should be??

Hi sam-TD5
like the mods you have done so far
Hers a pic of the filler flap if still needed if you need a better one just say and i'll get me proper camera out this one done with my phone

thats it for tonight :yawn:

WooHoo

The disco passed it MOT :5bparty:

only with 2 advisories, slight play in tie rod end and slight play in steering box :D

but there is now electrical fault,
2 days ago i tried to start the car when the starter did not start so turned it off, locked and unlocked the doors then it started at which point i noticed the cd player and the clock (backlight still works) stopped working,
the aircon control panel resets every time i turn the car off then back on then later that night i noticed the 3 interior lights have stopped working...
so did a bit of testing so removed the cd player and found the yellow (constant supply) has no power but the earth is earthed and the red (ignition) has 12v..

looked for blown fuses and found 3 (replaced 3) but no difference (2 under bonnet and 1 in car)

could anybody shed any light on this (where i can find its fuse or where the wire runs to....

thanks
