I'm in peeps. Unfortunatly, my +1 has had a family problem pop up, so he's out.

Does anyone want to meet up with me on the way up to Salisbury ? I'm leaving Weston Super mare at stupid o'clock to be there in good time... if anyone wants to hook up on the way, Pm me and i'll send ya my Mobi number.

BTW, I've got MM permanently loaded in Mucky, so if theres a need for a backup nav, I don't mind helping out, as l;ong as theres a hardset route overlay. I've been researching the plains for a few weeks, and only found about 30% of the lanes.

How about CB Ch 22 for those with rigs ?

Yeah the crappy one's I got have a good range but only go up to channel 8!

Channel 9's still emergency channel is it or has it changed? I'd be fooked if I ran into problems if that's the case! haha

Sorry peeps, I'm out, landy-less and ill...
Hope you have a great time and I will be there next time!
Hope that doesnt put D71 off not having me to rescue him again??? lol

im sure that the size of groups even if split in two may attract the attention of the land wardens so its gonna have to be stick to the byways on the day
we dont wanna give them any cause to ruin the day for us or others that are out

Please don't misinterpret this bud; I'm not preaching or trying to be 'holier than though' but shouldn't you be sticking to the byways anyway???
Large groups congregating and playing round some of the favourite mudholes could well attract the Land Rangers attention as will inadvertantly straying off piste as I once found out:eek:
But the ones I have met are great guys and are helpful if they see that you are not tearing the place up and are out for fun which I know are your intentions:)
An OS map close to hand (or MM) is a good way to show them you are making the effort by trying to stay on track and not just driving willy nilly across the Plains.
Remember that they DO have the powers to report anyone not complying with their requests and prosecution could follow.
I was quite surprised when a Land Ranger said that the Plains are mostly SSSI and the army have to repair any damage they make when on manouvres in those areas.
Enjoy your day guys, shame I'm working cos I'd have loved to tag along!

I seem to remember some pictures that someone put up of the Rangers pulling a Izuzu Tropper out of a mud hole? The Tropper was off piste so the Rangers towed it out..... With a strop round the B pillar :D
