still busy snagging few issues with wifes "new" L322. Noticed both front belts not retracting very well - any ideas on a fix?

my soon to be 100k freelander retracts perfect :)

silicone spray possibly or I seem to remember pledge spray polish- but a google may help

There ****e, there all mostly like that for some reason, I swapped mine for a second hand pair, there a little better, the gubbings are sealed, so you cant get in to them, and there's a warning on them not to open them lol

You dont want to use sticky lubricants such as WD40 as they can make things worse, when it comes up to MOT time I gently rub the edges of the belt with a candle, always works for me.

I found on my P38 that the passenget belt didn't retract very well. I removed the b pillar trim piece and teh recess where the belt asembly fits was full of fluff etc.

I cleaned it all out, pulled the belt fully out of the reel (as if it was going round a really fat guy) and also cleaned out all the fluff etc. from the reel - now retracts as it should and been perfect ever since

worth a try

I've had similar results by pulling the entire belt out and cleaning what I could. If I couldn't get in with a paint brush or vacuum nozzle I blasted it with an airline.
