tomorow im going to jetwash my engine bay, its looking quite dirty in there and i was wondering if there is any do's or donts. could it mess up my electrics? . . . do people wrap there electrics up? . . . or if it perfectly fine to just jetwash the lot?

just looking for the best and safest way to clean the bay without messing anything up.

cheers all

When ah did mine a few years back when ah first got it, ah'm pretty sure ah used Gunk or summit similar. Can't remember if ah sprayed the stuff on out of a bottle or just brushed it on. After that ah'm almost positive ah just ran a hose over it to wash it off... deffo not a pressure washer!!!;)

hot jet wash is better wrapping alternator and other such items good idea although i never bother i just avoid direct spray on vunerable items as long as you use commonsense no problem at all

Ive jet washed mine a few times before...

I just leave the engine running and make sure I dont jet wash directly on the alternator and other parts

well i was thinking i could wrap the wires up in plastic bags and then just jet wash the engine and bay/ and like you said carfuly avoid the altenator. busters plan dose sound safe an solid though. cheers all

ive done both my 300tdi discovery and 90 numerous times!
just left engine running and fire away, obviously not straight at alternator.

I wrapped all the electrics and fuse boxes in cling film (the parcel wrap stuff not kitchen film) then set the jet wash to a fan setting at the nozzle rather than jet and got stuck in after first using Jizer with a squirty bottle. Started just fine after.

Be careful with some of the degreasants, they can eat into tarmac too. Not a nice look on the driveway.

Thats what I/we used to do when I worked for a plant hire firm, just avoid the electrickery bits, use a bit of common sense and you should be fine ;);););)
