Under my landy
I killed it

Driving home from a gentle days laning today, 200tdi engine was a bit smokey - piston rings had died, no major problem, was keeping an eye on the oil level - then 10 minutes from home bang and twang and engine instantly died - cam belt gone.

Luckily a friend was behind me and towed me home, but, having sold the Disco last month and having not quite finished the Spitfire yet it leaves me living in the middle of no-where, with no public transport and no cars.

cheers guys, yeh, not the best of timings, but, you can't fault the Landy community - got the offer of a Rav 4 to run around in for a bit from one guy and just spoken to Top-Cat with the offer of engine parts... makes you really appreciate everyone's willingness to help out at a time of need :)

Hope you get it sorted soon, Mike.

Meanwhile, here's a pic from the end of the day - thanks again for leading! :)

Nice Photo Mark... and thank you for your help too, really appreciate it

No problem, mate. You've helped me out enough in the past.

Another pic from the beginning of the day. Not sure whose Landy this was so blanked out the reg out of courtesy:

All these photos of you guys off roading really makes me want to get my S3 finished so me and my son can have some quality time off roading together.

unless those blokes were on "private" land i'd say they weren't "offroading", more than likely laning, please try to use the correct terminology

that's being ever so slightly pedantic and anal.

Yes, we were on lanes all day, but, does it really matter, as much as anything Mark's photo has inspired Crashbox to continue his restoration so he can get out and enjoy it with his son.

Good luck Crashbox - if it has a 200tdi in it i'd suggest you replace the cam belt
