im reaaly fussy when it comes to my landy especially rust proofing it this year, ive seen a few kits on ebay like this one
DINITROL RUST PROOFING WAX KIT LITRES LARGE Carr FREE on eBay (end time 11-Dec-10 11:11:40 GMT)

Anybody used this product before??

My local motor factors sell hammerite underbody seal with added waxoil in black, simply paint it on but you just can get in them hard to get places. suppose a full day off work with it on ramp i could do it with a brush. Like i said im really fussy lol. Any recommendations? Methods etc? mines a td5 disco

my new 90 is getting waxoiled in the morning, a mate is doin it for me.
i just steam cleaned it off underneath on the truck wash the other, took me around an hour but it clean.
he did my disco last year and it was a top job.
i have got two gallon tubs and 1 refillable 1 litre tin to use, he will be spraying it on by using the 1 litre tin as the container to hold the waxoil and just refill it.
to be honest i would not have it done any other way, it gets into every tight spot under the chassis and also fill the chassis rail through the holes in it.

it will cost me 80ish all in. washing underneath/waxoil/mates fee's :)

Just done mine. 15Ltrs of Waxoil got from Spray store. £20 per 5Ltr can. Get as much loose rust off chassis as possible. I power washed as much as i could get to on the ramps, took it for a run to blow most of the water away. I left it front high over night to let any water run off. I was lucky enough to borrow proper gun and 5ft flexible probe for inside the chassis and doors etc. Guy i borrowed the gun off swears by Dinatrol though. Spray...don't paint, and never use underseal.

Dinotrol has been tested against all the others waxoil, etc and it blew them away. It comes with long hoses for the cavities and can be sprayed on the whole chassis.

I have used it for several years on all my classics. The only way I got waxoil to work into the chassis and tight areas was to heat the cans in a bucket of boiling water to thin it out. Dinotrol sprays thin without having to heat it. :D

With the guns that are provided with the dinitrol when using the probe does it spray out the end ie atomise? The problem I have always found with the waxyoyl kits is that the probe doesnt spray so you get loads on the bottom of the chassis rails but it doesnt coat the top or sides.

As posted, put the pressure tin in a big bucket of water and spray on the hottest day you can.It helps if you leave the sprayer in the sun before use, anything to get the waxoyl as hot as posssible to thin it out, it is quite thick when cold! :)

With just brushing though wont you just be sealing in the rust and not watching it rust from the inside of the chassis out?

I suppose the least metal contact to air and water is best but I would have thought hours of preparation for this job would be paramount.

which do i go for? theres loads

depends how rusty your chassis is to start with ? , u got the rust conversion spray ( stops it getting worse + gives u a base to spray over ) then the cavity wax - inside the chassis ( prob a lot thinner than the stuff I got ) , then the wax over all that .

The stuff I got is thick and brown ( no its not **** lol ) it covers really well but its a bastard to get out your skin .

im gunna clean it up and get all flaky bits off, then red oxide it then black hammerite smooth it. then wax oil it all when dry. this surely will keep any future rust away

Not sure, but i seem to remember someone telling me waxoil works better directly on the surface to be treated. I'll let you know in a year or two. I done the rear of my chassis up to the axles with Nutrarust, then a coat of Nutrarust grey primer, followed by a coat of Vinylast paint. Then a coat of waxoil. Done from there forward with a good coat of waxoil only. Down to time and needin it back on the road. Should get a good comparison though on whats best.

when ive got a bit more cash ill buy a wax oil kit and cavity fill it with wax oil. it should last a while with red oxide and black hammerite though shouldnt it?

I would think so mate. Bit of peace of mind before they start saltin the roads.

body should be well protected, polished everyweek since ive owned it. good stuff to that meguairs gold class

Try the Meguairs with carnoba wax. It is brilliant stuff. Dead easy to use and a good price. App £8. AutoGlym stuff is £40 and isn't any better.
