I had a clonking noise when pulling away in first and second gear.
I believe this to be the UJs in the front prop shaft. i have now removed my front prop shaft and went to drive the landrover using just the rear prop shaft, but it wont move.
Does this mean my transfer box is knakered?

is your light on the the dash for the 4x4 ?
is it selected right (have a jiggle about with it )
does the prop on the rear move (rotate) by hand ?
rear diff ok ?

Make sure difflock is locked. Drive smoothly as now you have only the rear wheels taking all the power Assuming the rear is in perfect working order you can drive for ever but drive smoothly as you are not sharing the power through both axles
