Hello everyone and firstly thank you all on here for hosting countless already asked questions and answered, nearly every time I need some RR advice my searches always bring me here, and have helped me many times. I too have become somewhat familiar with peoples repeat questions and answers, and I must stress my question/head scratcher has been posted before by others, but I haven’t seemed to find a complete answer.

That said, this forum is my last place to turn for help as I have had several car audio technicians etc turn me down and so I guess it is up to me to try and sort!

I would happily pay to have this issue fixed for me! money no object within reason…the silence has been driving me mad for months and months

My 2005 Range Rover vogue is doing the no audio thing. The orange light is on and bleeps, the whole interface works perfect, but no sound. The timer on the CD player counts up as though it is playing…alas no audio. Not even on radio.

I remember when this issue started, it started intermittently, ie starting to crackle on and off for a few journeys until eventually the silence.

I have been in the back quarter and struggled…I have no idea what I am doing really. I have checked all fuses in all boards, all fine. I have checked the fibre optic wires where I can see them and can see they have the red light in one of them. I am not even sure what the amp is out of the boxes in the rear left, to check for signs of water egress or loose wires. I have been into the MOST test diagnostic in the hidden menu but I don’t understand the readings…

I am really really lost, and would happily take any advice to try and get it to work….I would even take a recommendation of someone who could fix it, I am based near Lancaster north west.

Any help greatly appreciated seriously!

The usual problem is water ingress in the N/S rear quarter causing corrosion in the connectors or damaging one or more of the units located there. The corrosion can be hard to see, it only needs a little green trace between pins to cause havoc.
Always wait for the LED to go out on the SatNav unit before disconnecting anything.

In the amp? Do you have any pictures of one? There is a lot of aftermarket things back there in the way, like DVD player and rear seat media screens, so it’s hard to see what the amp is

Update…still struggling!

so I have found the amp, it’s a Harmon Kardon Logik 7. All looks fine from what I can see…

the Bluetooth module has green crud around the pins and terminal…could this be stopping the sound?

I checked the MOST loop best I could…checking it going into and out of various equipment, while doing so I noticed a wire was loose and slightly crackling electric, I have attached picture. Even though I put it into a position it wasn’t crackling and all the MOST red outputs were shining, still no audio?

I'm guessing you have the touch screen Logic7

MOST
The components of the complete audio/infotainment system are all connected on the Media Orientated Systems Transport (MOST) ring. The MOST ring is a fibre optic communications bus for multi media applications. Sound and control information is passed around the MOST ring and can be picked up by any of the systems units. For example, sound information is sent from the CD autochanger along the MOST ring and is collected by the audio amplifier which then outputs the sound to the speakers.

As the CD info is being displayed on the screen I suspect the MOST ring is working correctly, you could disconnect one of the Fibre connections to see if the screen then fails.

Yeah the screen works etc and can see sat nav etc, all works and buttons bleep.

I did the Bluetooth module disconnection and made the two MOST cables point at each other, it was successful in the effort of bypassing the Bluetooth but there was still no audio.

I waggled and messed with the TMC radio receiver box, and saw the MOST red light beaming into it, however checked at the amp side and noticed there was no signal being sent into the amp, so I am guessing this unit is goosed; I have ordered a replacement, however I also tried the bypassing technique on this section, and managed to disconnect the TMC, keeping the infrared cable looped, it all worked etc back to how it was, aka no audio…

…really running out of ideas as to what it could be!
