Looking to change my P38 for a RR Sport.
Probably a 2007 model. Unsure about 2.7 or 3.6.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers.

The tdv8 engine is the one to go for IMO

Not a lot of info about sports on here
But they have quite a few problems as you would expect from anything Landrover

Firstly, Grab your favourite driving trousers....

Get yourself to a local fabric shop....

Measure out 2 lengths of fabric about yard and a half long each.....

Wrap into a circle and stich along the bottom and along the side to make a pouch....

Cut a hole into your trouser pockets and stich your newly formed pouch onto the bottom....

You now have the correct trousers with deep enough pockets for an early Sport.

Secondly, take another pair of trousers and cut holes in the pockets....these will be your second correct pair of trousers for an early Sport....

In all seriousness, got for the latest model you can afford, but be warned, they are built in such a way that DIY repairs are seldom possible, and any dealer repairs require a horrendous amount of labour...reports are you pretty much have to lift the body off to replace/remove anything!!

Lol saint has way too much time on his hands lol

Got one. Love it and the Sport. Mine's an early one. 90,000 and going strong. 2.7's ok. As quick as old V8 4.6 P38 I had and 27mpg.

Expensive for parts compared to the p38. I tank diesel pump is about £500,high pressure fuel pump supplied and fitted almost a grand, injectors £130 each ,there's six of them, but that's only if you run crappy diesel.a thing to look out for is timing belts changed, cam one on front and high pressure fuel pump on the rear, should be done at 7 years or 105k miles,to do the rear some people will say the body has to be removed, but it can be done just very tight ,but bear that in mind when looking, can cost big bucks if you don't DIY.basically same Rolling chassis as discovery 3.still have lots of stupid electrical probs too.

Thanks,
Is the l322, 2007 model just as unreliable?
Problem is its nearly 1ft longer than my p38 so it may not fit in my garage hence going for the Sport...

Owned a TDV6 Disco for 3 years and whilst a tad bulkier than a RR sport the 2.7 was adequate and refined but no hot rod. I thought the the idea of a sport was to be 'sporty' and the 2.7 is more slippers and pipe than edge of the seat stuff.

Has to be the TDV8 or buy an oil field and go for a supercharged.

Donp38, what do you mean - don't go for a RR sport at all or don't go for the 3.6?

Ps my P38 only averages 12 mpg where I live in the hills!

The sports and discos all have there own issues

Just from what I've heard the sport is a tad trickier to fix stuff when it breaks in comparison to the l322.

I would go for a nice tdv8 vogue
Much classier :p

My mate said the same thing, which I didn't believe so we had a burn up off the lights (three times to make sure) I left him for dust every time and I didn't bother using sport mode on the box. So no, IMHO a 2.7 RRS isn't as fast as a 4.6 P38.

Bet that was a bit embarrassing for your mate ! Lol

Allow this - I did a 2.7 Diesel Sport off the lights outside the Hunters Land Rover Dealer in Guildford in my bashed up, LPG powered 1993 3.9 Classic....the girlfriend said the drivers and the salemans face was a picture....:p:D

Wonder if the 3.0 td6 engine is far off the 2.7 ?
What BHP is the 2.7 running at ?
