Hi Chaps,

I am thinking about investing in my 1st ever RR & would appreciate a little help.

I am looking at buying a 2007/8 3.6 TDV8. I have a friend whom is a car dealer and is capable of acquiring me a trade in before it goes to auction. This will come from a Rocar Moore dealership as he is the one of the top car buyers for his group within his company. So this should be at a very reasonable rate as taken in on a new sale.
I only give you this so you understand the background to my £20k ish budget.

My question is:- Which model is the one to go for? Obviously I am not spending 20k to go green laning, this is simply a luxury vehicle that I have dreamed of for decades.

Looks will be important & re-sale ability later.

Are there any different features worth looking out for?

All help greatly appreciated thanks guys.

Full fat range rover
More luxurious by far !

Unless you want something to race round then a sport may handle better around corners

I have a friend who sold his range rover for a sport last year.. He's now going back to the range rover as the sport is not as good

I bought a brand new Sport in 2007, then sold it in 2010 once the warranty was out.
nice car but basically a good looking discovery. If I ever decide to go newish again it would be a proper Range Rover without a doubt.

L322 over L320 any day, L320 is nowhere near as big or luxurious inside.
By the way, even though they look similar, they are totally different cars apart from some engines.

Well well well,

I am surprised. A resounding Full Fat RR has definitely surprised me there.

I note Planny said "Apart from some engines" Is there I should be looking out for there or is the 3.6 TDV8 the same in both and Planny was just talking about different options available on the whole?

By the way, can anybody recommend me a good site for referancing & checking out the various options please?

I will never buy a RRS again I have had my 2007 for 9 months and nothing but problems, bare in mind I got the AA to check out the car before I bought it. I have spent in the region of £4000 on it so far and that's not upgrades, that's just mechanical failures.

I have had things like a oil filter housing, brake lines done, front arms replaced and the most expensive was the transfer box it was shot to pieces within a two week period.

I tried to get financial assistance from LR no joy.

Stay away from RRS.

Plus note when they run good they feel good. I am selling mine now that its fixed. LOL

Be carefully of buying a car that Rocar moors are sending to auction! Rather than putting it on there forecourt!
I know your buying it from a mate! But it's still a Landrover! And if Rocar Moor are not happy to sell it with there stamp of approval then there is something wrong with it!( fact).

Also to re-iterate you are best going with the full size range rover, try and get a Vogue SE or an Autobiography,
Also, Be aware that come January the new shape Range Rover is launched, so the resale value of the L322 will plummet.
I would in that case wait till January and go direct to the dealers and get an l322 from them as the dealerships will be desperate to move on the old stock, and also get a full warranty! Note( a full warranty) note again ( a full dealer Landrover all singing all dancing warranty)!
