Chaps,
Finally decided that I’m going to start looking for a RR (not a sport) from 07/57.

I’m not too bothered if it’s petrol or diesel but tips on each would be good.

The only things I want it to have is darkened rear windows (dogs), Bluetooth for me phone and Xeon headlights. The reverse camera looks good, but does it work?

I’m thinking ‘around’ £10k might get something that won’t fall apart too fast?

The Supercharged one looks fun but I dread to think how much it drinks...

Any advice?

Ta

Try to avoid ones with drug dealer large alloys, look at a few to get a feel and make sure every bit of equipment works as it should, there is no set spec as all are tailored to the customer so equipment will vary car to car
I believe the supercharged ones are better as regards the gearboxes but still budget having oil and filter change they are not really sealed for life
other will have more info.

That'll be the proper RR the L322!!

The supercharged engine is bombproof being a jag unit, it is much superior to the early bmw iterations just watch the valley pipe.
It's a rubber hose that runs under the supercharger, it usually goes pop over 100k and is a mission to replace.

Jaguar also supplied a 4.4 v8 2006+ and that was N/A still a quick car but arguably the best motor they fitted, reliable as hell and easy to maintain, still had the valley pipe issues but its a 45min job on the N/A and a 4hr job on the supercharged unit,.
The diesels are ok, but turbos and EGR coolers like to shíŧ the bed so watch that..

The ZF gearbox has to be serviced every 60k regardless with the RIGHT OIL!!! , it's a right procedure but worth it, a well looked after 'box will outlive the car. ;)

Rust can creep in around the rear arches, and make it's way to the rear seatbelt anchorage.

Rust first appears where the secondary rear door seal sits, most people don't wash out the crap and that causes it to rust..

There is a post somewhere by me as to the Gearbox on the latter L322, people think i'm going on but it has to be done every 60k..

And it has to be done RIGHT!!!

Oh and the electrics will be a right ball ache.

Don't be afraid to post in the RR section though when it does break. ;)

Oh and your posh wine stash will take a hit ;)

MPG!!

The 3.6 tdv8 will average 23-30 depending on your style

The 4.2 superchaged will average 8 to 22 again depending, the Aluminium lung is a drag especially when tootling around, hence the consumption.

The 4.4 N/A 2006+ will do 15-25 again depending on driving style..

On and if you're over 6ft you'll find it a bit of a squeeze in the front, weird considering the size of the thing.. o_O

Seats are also an acquired taste.. :D

best try one out.. :)

I’m 6’ 3”!!

Our Saint.v8 is 6.3 and fits fine'ish and he's a meaty fellow ;)

Depends on leg length aswell i'm 5'11 with long meaty legs ;) and find it ok but again you have to try one, everyone is built differently in regards to proportion, its the leg area/footwell that catches most out.. ;)

Buy a shogun. 2disco's and an l322 makes my opinion valid. Only a comparison with my and my mates ownership issues over the last 8years.his, practically none, mine, quite a few.

L322's ain't cheap to run but i'd rather empty my wallet in style than be seen in a shogun.. ;)

One life and all that.

Sure you can go broke many times in that life, but hey thats the fun..
