There will be lots of ways of doing it.
Have you got all the parts for it such as conversion kit or just the engine.
May be worth having a look in the V8 section or the series section.

Good man:love:
get yourself a cup a tea cos I'm gonna go on a bit :smash:
I've only fitted V8's to 2a's and 3's so don't know if the bellhousing on a series 1 is the same( if the engines come out of a s1 it will have a conversion plate on it to mate the engine to the box)
First job, wings and front panel off, then once you've got the old lump out it's time to start on the bulkhead. You need to move the footwells 2" further in so the V8 fits inbetween, I'll get some pics up later.
Then mate the V8 to the box,the flywheel should have been redrilled to take the series clutch and the modified spigot bush should be bolted to the flywheel.
Now, some people use the original engine mounts but I find the engine sits too low and because the oil filter is at the front left of the engine if you offroad you will knock the filter off with the axle casing. So I lift the engine up a couple of inch and make some new engine mounts, plus I've got a remote filter to give even more clearance.
Once the engine is sat in place you need to make an exhaust, rangie, disco or 90 V8 will NOT fit without cutting and rewelding so don't go out and spend megabucks on a nice system cos it won't fit!
I use the downpipes and y- piece from a rangie and cut and weld to make it fit.
I think that's all the major jobs covered then it's just a case of re-plumbing and re-wiring.
If you need any more info just let me know, also I'll try get lots of pics up to give you an idea what's involved.

those rover v8`s sound awesome on straight through pipes... proper wet panties stuff :D

Here's the pics as promised,The passenger side is fairly straightforward just move it out 2"like this

take no notice of the rotting footwell, I don't

drivers side is a bit more tricky due to lack of access cos of the pedals and you need to cut down the rod for the throttle linkage if not it will stick out further than the modded footwell and hit the V8's manifold. Do away with the rest of the linkage bits under the bonnet, you can't use them but need to keep the long rod inside as it holds the throttle pedal in place. Then you need to adapt the pedal to fit a throttle cable.

if you lift the engine up on it's mounts to clear the front axle you need to lift the tunnel up the same amount or the g/box will hit the tunnel and it won't fit on,just extend the bottom to fit, "simples"

it's not as bad as it sounds but if you don't cut the bulkhead/footwells back far enough if you ever, sorry when you need to take the heads off you can't get the back headbolts out cos they hit the sides before they will come out of the heads!
Hope this all makes sense and hasn't put you off :D

Have got a exhaust for a v8 (carb) 90 brand new if interested at a good price. Also if you get stuck I MAY be able to help don't live far away and just put 3.9 auto in my 90. Must admit never been in a series I let alone worked on one but it must be lees complicated than a 90.

cheers for the offer fella, regards the exhaust i will be scratch building one as have a welder and really want a naughty sound with pipes exiting under sills at either side, if i get stuck it would be great to know there are people willing to come and scratch there heads with me will add u as a friend and message u if i start to panic (probable) once again thanks v v much for the offer
