Hey guys I have freelander 1 2.0 diesel l series (2000)
Sometimes engine is rough idling
And stall (this happens when I fill the gas tank but I never fill up the tank to the top)it hesitate for a while and runs normal. But I feel a slight hesitation when accelerating.I thought it was the mass air flow sensor I disconnect the connection but nothing happens no check engine light car runs in same condition.please help !

When did you last service the vehicle. before going for engine filters, fuel pipes are okay I guess in a very hot humid country like sri lanka filters can go off quickly. How long has this been struggling first.

The MAF has little effect on the running of the engine on an L Series, it is only used to control the EGR I believe. If it is not smoking when hesitating I don't think it will be the EGR.

The MAP sensor is used to know air flow for fuelling.

It could be the timing of the fuel pump, but if that is out, the car will usually be very difficult to start. The wiring from injector 1 is also used for timing I believe, so you could check that - plus wiring to the pump.

Never touched mine, but presume its on the inlet manifold/plenum so that it knows what pressure the air going into the engine is under.

The Rave Workshop Manual will have details about it. There's info on downloading it here...

You're after the Rave03 which is for the L Series.
Thank you so much for the information
I found out that MAP sensor vacuum hose cracked at the turbo side so I replace it.Now engine run perfectly well. And another thing what do you think about the oil catch cans(good or bad)

I have no experience of catch cans.
