Revs a lot

2011 Freelander 2 LE auto
I’m new to this car only had it couple months.
Need some advice
I Start car in morning fine put into Drive go to
Pull away & it revs but only moves slightly if was manual I would say clutch slipping it does this for about 1-2 hundred yards then fine drives great all day only happens after parked up over night. Any ideas help advice?

When was the fluid changed? It sounds like low fluid pressure causing the clutch to slip. Definitely needs proper investigation before permanent damage is done to a clutch pack.

It’s going in after Christmas to have gearbox drained & refilled with new ATF.

I’ve just experienced a similar thing. The car revved up to 4000rpm before changing into second gear. Did you find an answer? My guess is that low gear oil level could be the issue & it’s due a service too. Please let me know if you have any insight.
