Above - outside Bishstrow House: I took my parents out for lunch :)

And a sad sight when i popped into the local scrappie on the off chance they had a coil pack - a burnt out Td4 :(

Hopefully not anyone's on here? Looks nasty, and I doubt there's much left worth rescuing either... :(

The wing repeaters look ok. Everything else is probably goosed though.
I would think that was an arson job. Petrol engines catch fire on occasion. Load spaces don't unless carrying something in the back that shouldn't be there. Sad all the same.
 
I had not thought of arson, but I was struggling to understand why the boot had caught fire unless there was an electrical fault...?

My dad used to have an old Audi. The cigarette lighter in the dash had packed up, so he used to lean over and use the one for the back seats in the rear of the console. He leaned over and pressed it one day, next thing he smells burning, stops the car and gets out - to watch it all go up in flames in front of him :)

Blimey! A lucky escape then!!!!
 
I've repaired the bodged engine under tray - the plastic "insert" was held in with cable ties. Now has stainless bolts with nylocs.

Of course, it'll need to come off again soon: the lower ball joint needs replacing - and I figure I'll replace one or both lower arms at the same time.

Which brings a question: OEM versus aftermarket? Massive price difference from Rimmers, but there are some horror stories regarding the poor quality of certain aftermarket parts: I may start another thread on this.

On the wheels front, I've decided to keep the current 16" triple sports and have ordered Yoko Geolanders in 215/65R16. Bigger wheels and tyres may come later, but figure it would be good to see what the near standard set up is capable of :)

Use decent aftermarket lower wishbones for maximum life. Lemforder are good, and OE on later LR models.

You'll not be disappointed with Geolanders if you went for the AT-S. Bit more noisy than road rubber, but plenty of grip. You could have fitted larger sizes to the 16" rims though;)

I had a look on Eurocarparts for their wishbones and they charge £165 for Lemforder and £65 for Ocap. That's a heck of a difference although with the Christmas sale they are £112 and £44.
Anyone else out there tried the Ocap suspension parts?

BTW be ready for a wrestling session getting the rear mount bush off. I had to set mine upright and leave a puddle of plusgas around the bush for a couple of days, then put the bush in a vice and swing on to get it off.

Yup, got the ATS on your recommendation at £62 per boot. Also got one for the spare :D

I did seriously think about larger rubber, but after some time researching, most big rubber upgrades are done with hub centric spacers. If I go in that direction, I'll fit 17"!rims ;)

If you're having them delivered instead of collecting them check the prices in Carparts4less. Same company only no shops but usually cheaper. Also check their ebay shop, sometimes cheaper there too.
 
Yes, tricky one this. There some dicky parts out there interspersed with perfectly good ones. With no other identification on them, how can one know what's good and what's not?

I'd like to go on recommendation if possible: sometimes spending more provides little guarantee.
