Hi

Finally got hold of a D4 steering wheel and switch packs , so that I can retrofit one into my D3

Also to have cruise control , will also have to activate that through the CCF files

had to order modified switch pack pcbs from blackbox

Looking at D4 steering wheel airbags as they are flat, D3 ones are raised

The Old D3 wheel is showing signs of some of the leather coming unstitched etc

Nice upgrade!

Many thks ,Have been waiting a good while , wanted to get all the mechanical things done first

Have already fitted the D4 wiper and light stalks, they were just plug and play

New circuit boards should turn up next week so will update the thread then of the mod

Well finally the modified switch circuit boards turned up

Took the switches apart and fitted the new pcbs , so now have telephone and cruise control

Now just waiting for the airbag removal tool and also a D4 airbag

Will also have to tell the system the cruise control is there in the CCF configuration

New air bag turned up, prefer the look of the new shape, because the top is flat

Just waiting for the airbag removal tool in order I can remove the D3 steering wheel , is quite fiddly trying to pull and unhook the airbag clips

Quite pleased with it and turned out not too back, made sure all the switches etc were the same shade

You can make a D3 air bag removal tool out of some stout wire, bent into a hook shape. I made one up in about 5 minutes out of some 2mm garden wire. ;)

Thks, haven’t got anything like that laying around, tool is turning up tommorow , know they can be sods to get off

When I removed the D3 airbag ages ago even with the original tool it put up a fight , found pressing on the airbag as I pulled with the tool helped

The new tool should be a lot better as it has a tee handle on it
