Im putting a turner head on a TD5 can I wire up the chain to the cam pulley and lift the head over? Looking at pictures the chain tensioners seem to hold cam pulley and chain tight. Is this ok or do I need a different approach?
Cheers

That will work so long as you're careful not to drop anything down the chain gallery. It can be a right fiddly job though. I stuff it with rags to make sure nothing can go down there. Back the tensioner out to give you a little slack otherwise getting the cam pulley back on can be a bit of a bastard. Once all together turn the engine over by hand to make sure everything is clearing then disconnect the crank sensor. Tighten the tensioner and turn the engine over with the key in short bursts to build some oil pressure. The tensioner is hydraulic so when you first turn the engine it needs a few seconds to adjust the slack out of the chain. Once you have oil pressure then reconnect the crank sensor or the engine wont fire.
