Hi all, had to replace whole mirror unit

Removed interior plastic, undid the 3 bolts , unhooked TWO wiring harnesses then lifted old mirror off

Held new mirror up but new one only has one wiring plug, which is problem 1

Problem 2 though is the whole mirror is wobbly and doesnt seem secure

The bolts are tight ish (not totally as I'm using a spanner which doesnt fit into the gap properly!) But I dont think this is the problem as the whole thing moves about?

Bit more description, or pics of the two wiring harnesses, would help.
As your profile says "none yet" for which LR you have, we don't know exactly which model we are dealing with!
You could have wiring for, a/ the lever that moves the mirror up/down, and in/out
b/ the heating element to demist the mirror/
c/ some have a fold-in mechanism too.
Some circuits could be combined into multiplugs. eg heater element together with up/down/in/out. To my way of thinking there should be 6 or even 7 connections to do those two things, depending on whether they used a common earth.

Do you or did you have the old mirror?
Simple use of a multimeter should tell you which wires do what.

It's simple, you bought the wrong mirror cos they are very VIN dependant and you can't rely at all on the ebay compatibility lists also aftemarkets are full of sh*t from factory

As you took the old mirror off, simple comparison of the old one with the new one should tell you what is going on. But if it won't go back together like the old one then as @sierrafery said, looks like you've been sold a pup.

Not all D2s have the folding mirror. BUT the wires to do it may still be part of the loom.
I have a GS and the mirrors don't fold. Suspect they may fold on the ES only.
Others will know.

Any chance of you putting up pics of the plugs from the car, the plug(s), from the old mirror and the plug(s) on the new mirror?
Would help us to help you.

So, its possible to upgrade from manual to powerfold .... hmmm. Another one on the list, after fitting a replacement heated screen..

Maybe, maybe not. Don't take my word for it!
But some of this is based on the fact that the wiring for cruise control, for example, is all apparently there. Have to assume it was more cost effective to make a "one fits all" loom.
Also the switch has to be the right sort with the connection for "fold" "unfold" on it.
Did try it with my car when first got it. It didn't work, am now wondering if it should have done!

Interesting... I'll take a look at the loom over Christmas. I can get all the parts for around £85 so lets hope mine has the loom. If not, I'll look at something else, as I dont want to butcher the existing wiring just for a vanity project.
