How the monkey turds do I get the mirror glass off, to hopefully (if it's just as simple as) re-hook up the mechanism to the motor?

My passenger side mirrors all floppy but I can hear the motor running that 'should' be moving/holding it. But for the life of me I can't get the bugger off short of smashing it lol

I have only done it once but found it was difficult to remove without breaking the glass so it broke, the plastic fixing at the rear just wont let go. Replacment is a lot better as you can put a dab of grease on the fixing ball.

There is an easy way to get it off as I found out last week - drive down a single track lane, a little too fast - not too much, then try to squeeze past a badly parked lorry with it's arse end jutting out into the road and find that there's just not quite enough room. Unfortunately, this does also break the glass..... but not the plastic fixing thingy surprisingly! Took me fecking ages to hook that plastic thingy back in place a few months ago (Bit of thread handy Big Feller? :) Now I need a new glass and to try and remember how I reattached it last time...

I'm trying from the edge furthest away but I just don't trust it to go pppshh! in my hands lol.

Doesn't help how it hurts my fingers in this bloody cold up in the hills weather lol
