Anybody recommend a reliable honest supplier of engines or repairs for the discovery 3 .2.7 oil light came on and car stopped so I have started emptying my bank ready for the fix, happy to pay but need a proper job by a professional.

Im in Gloucester area but happy to travel anywhere as honest and good are valuable to me

Any help much appreciated

TBH you are kind of screwed, only people doing proper exchange warranted engines are land rover themselves.

Company who post on D3 forum calling themselves Oval autos talk about rebuilding them etc, but the other mechs on the forum reckon once crank has gone the block is scrap.
Most people use a second hand jag engine as they have had an easier life and the whole car incl the engine is roughly the same price as an unknown 2nd hand engine.

Lots and lots of cowboys out there promising the earth charging for it and not delivering!

My cousin who has a RRS and works in Scotland bought one after a same catastrophic failure about 1.5 year ago and so far so good, we dont speak too much but he calls every time when there is some trouble with the vehicle ... i emailed him when i saw this thread to ask where he bought it and he gave me this link https://engineengineering.co.uk/sta...7/recon-range-rover-27-tdv6-engines-276dt:978 and said that everything is fine

Buy a running Jag S type 2.7L. Remove the working 2.7 engine, swap everything over from the LR engine to the Jag lump, then put the LR-ized Jag lump in the D3. Sell the bits of the Jag that have a value, then scrap the body.;)
