Regarding gearbox issues

Hi guys and girls after some info have a range rover l322 3 litre diesel vogue 03 plate and when I got it the car will only engage 123 gears won't select 4th and 5th changed gearbox filter and oil no metal bits in it but hasn't solved the problem any help

Diagnostics?

Had it on a computer said 36 to 37

Needs the correct diagnostics, the L322 is not OBD compliant.

Now I have seen this issue before but for the life of me cant remember the cause, maybe @holidaychicken, @myfirstl322 or @Saint.V8 might have a clue.

You've a better memory than I've got cos I'm below the bottom rung really,

@Bemble really is the man of all men and king of ZF's...i@Saint.V8 is devotedly studious and almost as wise by the same proxy 99% of us tap into,
I seem to recall a seal failure issue being to blame for the disappearance of those two gears.

@holidaychicken is a fantastic spanner passer and I won't stand for anybody saying less of him.

Just need a problem solving as done the filter on the gearbox and oil and still comes on will it be the the fifth solenoid or new box

Could be that the 'toilet roll' (direct clutch) shaft has sheared : is it the dreaded box

It's says if it goes there will be signs of metal fibre in the old oil and there wasn't it was clean its been plugged into diagnostics and comes back with 4th or fifth solenoid and change filter and oil
