Hello,i am new here.I was reading many reports about L322 Gearbox failure . Not find the right answer. Anyway ,bought this car with the fault ,not running at all in gear! Just a challenge,as price was good to me . Changed gearl oil and filter and got it driving in gear 2 on D and manual gear 2 .select R and no reverse at all ,no noises, nothing. Noticed that i have in neutral a slight forward move . When i switch in low range,it makes a mechanical hammering noise, when engine is running. If i switch to low range only ignition on ,then nothing to hear . Phoned up a gearbox company ,they told me when clutch 4 is burned,it will not select Reverse,rebuilt£2300 . Is there anything else what i can check? That would be helpfull before i pay for a rebuilt. Many thanks to all of you .

Post in the range rover section, you might get a better response there. This section is for vehicle builds/projects.

The GM box in the L322 rarely lasts more than about 80K miles so you most likely need a rebuild or replacement box.
I guess from your name you might be Dutch?

Unless it’s as simple as the selector cable adjustment being out, driving in Neutral is a pretty sure sign that one of your clutch packs is welded solid. Not that unusual with the GM 5L40-E transmission in the L322, I’m afraid.
