Hello,

Just joined need some info/help. head gasket just been done on i.8 freelander all uprated parts including remote thermostat, problem we are having is exhaust is going red on tickover, timing spot on, would anyone be able to help or advise us. Thanks Rab.

normal advice is to burn it, looks like you're halfway there !

Maybe more luck posting in the freelander section, or the engine section for freelanders.

Have a td4 myself so no good to you whatsoever for 1.8

good luck anyway

If timing really is spot on then you must have an air leak on the inlet side.

(I assume you mean the manifold is red hot)

I wouls check crank position sensor it may have been moved during the work you had done on it.
Your timing is retarded, that is why the exhaust manifold is glowing red:)

as this is a duplicate fred i'll post what i did on his other one.

it will either be a clogged catalytic convertor or a faulty oxygen sensor.
