Hi all, just joined as we picked up our freelander at the weekend, knew we had a transfer box noise and figured it was going to be the bearings. So under the FL today and found the prop shaft missing!!! And the output spinning by hand, yes the spline has gone, Bell engineering is on holiday so I’m reluctant to send him a message for advise being half term expect he’s with family, so does anyone here know if you can source an input shaft with gear assembly, I’m an engineer by trade so more than happy rebuilding the box and reshimming just can’t find any parts description yet so any help would be appreciate. Thanks Steve.

I don't know where bell get their parts, but it wouldn't surprise me if they have them made. Unfortunately many parts for the PTU aren't available.

Hi Nodge, thanks for the quick reply, that’s what I was thinking, might need to bight the bullet and get a recon unit, my second worry is that the prop shaft is missing because there’s an underlying issue with the haldex or rear diff if I get a shaft and reinstate the 4x4, other than that really pleased with the FL just need to do a little tinkering

It's strange the prop has been removed. It does point to another issue with the Haldex or diff. The diff is an easy rebuild for someone with technical ability. Even the Haldex isn't that complicated, it's just a wet clutch with control hydraulics.

Totally agree, I suspect the haldex as there’s no rear noises, even with the prop removed the rear diff is rotating whilst driving so would imagine some noise would be present.
