Red Diesel?

Hello, just a quicky!

Does red diesel have a different molecular structure than standard DERV, or does it simply have a colour additive?

it also has marker chemicals added to it to make it easier to detect if the Revenue Men come a dipping.

There is a way to remove the marker chemicals ut it's complex and dangerous, and involves strong acid

and if you carry on this thread someone from the tax people or whatever they call themselves will come knocking on yer door

get it deleted quick! Nah, I'm only interested, but the concept does interest me. I think standard DERV is the way to go, but it's so bloody expensive and not really all that good for the environment (I do care about that)

Then grow your own rapeseed, harvest it, crush out the oil, transesterify it into biodiesel using methanol and sodium hydroxide, and have a ZERO carbon effect!

Also, if you use used cooking oil for biodiesel, it costs about 20 pence a litre to do it ....

where do you get cooking oil for 20p a litre?
im paying 64p per litre and with 48p tax on top of that mr tax man is having a laugh at the enviroments expence , and mine.

Think he meant if you use "used" cooking oil it costs about 20p per litre to turn it in to biodiesel.

28.35p, but then I'm just being picky

Not that I've researched any of this, but you also have to dispose of the contaminated Glycerol

Used oil free from chip shops, but not so easy to get these days because every bugger and his brother is doing it.

Then 20 p a litre to cover the methyl alcohol ( Steady Slob ....) and sodium hydroxide.

Yes there's a process, lots of websites out there to tell you how it's done.
