I am almost finished with rebuilding a 1977 88" but my steering is playing up. When taking the car apart I did not remove the Pitman arm off of the steering box. But I did remove the relay and its two arms from the Chassis.
Now that I am putting it back together in the same setup I have almost full lock left but 5 deg in right turn. When I readjust the lower relay arm I only get +/- 10 deg of turn in the wheels from lock to lock.
If I place the pitman arm in the centre of its travel then re attach the lower relay with the wheels in the forward position then I get 15 deg of left and 5 deg of right at full lock. I have adjusted the rod between relay to wheel radius arm to compensate at each stage, but only has a very little effect.
So what do I do? It seems that I can only get a small amount of turn from lock to lock.

Have you checked that BOTH wheels move freely as they should with rod linkages removed?
Chris
PS at the same time with the steering unlinked check its free movement lock to lockif all moves as it should then rod link assembly is the problem refer to your manual for correct set up
Oh and don't forget to check full movement of relay at the same time

The wheels used to hit the chassis when the stops where removed, and still do when the linkages are removed.
Last year I renewed the track rod ends between the relay and the wheel and the wheels no longer hit the stops on the right turn, even with much adjustment. But did not effect the driving much. Well now I have a problem that needs to be solved.
I can also Get 4 full turns of the Steering Wheel with lower relay arm removed.
