Hi all, new to this and also having a freelander.
Hope someone can help my rear wiper wont stop working, even when I take the key out of the car and I can lock it etc.. it still goes on wiping away..
The one time it stops is when I disconnect the battery. It does not start again until I press the switch or select reverse gear. Then it wont stop again..

Any ideas????? Please

Check all the wiper switches, as the contacts in switches can wear and stick. The wiper is obviously getting a feed from there abouts as it comes on if you select reverse
(which it is supposed to do but only when the front wipers are on)

In the wiper motor there is a park position switch which keeps it going after you switch the wiper off, until it reaches its 'park' position. Sounds like this might be stuck on or off as it gives a signal to the CCU.

I Agree with ianda, same thing happened on my 56 Reg. Took the fuse out for a temporary fix, and then scratched my head when my next door neighbour , who used to work at Lucas long ago, came out. Always up to the challenge is Keith. Anyway took the wiper motor out of the backdoor, tested a few bits and pieces, and as he maintained he found that the micro switch (park sensor) had come a little bit adrift from the wiper motor body. A few second pressing microswitch buttons, and then pushing the switch tightly into the wiper motor and hey presto it worked.....not had any problems in 4 months or so.
Hope this helps

Hi Fixed this at long last, Turned out to be a simple broken wire under drivers seat, cut and rejoined all is good and working as it should.

Now i just have to work out why my rear window wont go down off the remote, works fine off switch just not remote
