I needed a new blade and rushed off to Halfords to buy a generic Bosch one (SP13 super plus universal).
£8 later I took it home and tried to fix it to the wiper arm.

Now I'm obviously missing the point but the clever fixing mechanism on the blade did not match up with the arm in any way I could see.

I wondered if I should break off that clever mechanism and try and fix it to the 'little bar thingy' that would be left behind.

But even then the wiper would look nothing like the one I took off.

So I decided that Halfords would definitely refuse its return so I gave up :(

Is it me or does the recommended Bosch replacement just not fit?

Are my only hopes paying through the nose at the local dealers or buying off ebay?
(Sadly all the normal parts companies seem to want 3 times the cost of the item for postage!)

take it back and ask the fitter who to fit it. Say the fixing doesnt seem correct. they usually have a box of adapters. with a bit of luck they will fit it for ya.

I needed one last year but Halfords didn't list it in their charts so got a genuine one off ebay which was a fair price!

I took it back - they agreed that the recommended blade would not fit.
In the end they exchanged it for a 'replacement rubber' set.

With a bit of bending, the plastic 'guide' that holds the rubber does come out.
Simply slide out the old rubber from the guide, slide in the replacement rubber, snip it off at the right length.
Then slide the guide back into the wiper and bend the last one into place.

Done!

Next time I won't leave it so long as to allow it to scratch the glass :(
