had a squeaking noise from car had new bushes and new rear brakes but diddnt sort it. its now said that its the rear subframe at fault, but there are a few questions aboot this.

does the freelander actualy have one?

is it expensive (stupid question i know) if so how much aprox?

and where can i get one? that is if they exist!

thankyou v much

yes it duz

isnt everything on a Hippoo? - £160.80 plus VAT 2 yrs ago

it is most likely the sub frame has cracked - or the attachment point has failed - fairly easy fix.

no prob;)

my dads mechanic says it need replacing (it was hit very very hard) so does anyone know where i could get a new one as cheap as possible?
thanks mad hat man where was that because the main dealers are askin for arround £350 and at 16yrs old its hard tocome by that sort of money lol.

I have the same problem the subframe mounting has cracked. Can you suggest where I could have this done in London. Preferable around Greenwich. Thank you in advance.

Yes I took it to an independent Land Rover Specialist Land Rover Defender Discovery Freelander Range Rover servicing repairs spare parts accessories today.
He said that the captive nut inside the body has come away and that it is
a body shop type of job and that he's not equipped to do it.

When you say expensive how expensive and who could do it?

Have you actually checked the sub-frame and mountings for cracks? its an expensive repair if theres nothing wrong with them!!!

I had the same problem, land rover wanted £1300 to do the job, thats mainly
labour charge because they do the job from inside the car, so they told me.
A garage mig welded it for me, he did it from underneath, and he charged me £20, he said the weld was stronger than the surrounding metal.

Yes I can imagine if LR did it. I found a Technical Bulletin about this problem
and there is a lot of welding inside and outside. I'm going to take it to an independent place tomorrow. They say that they make a plate, drill a hole
in it and weld the tube to it and the plate to the leg.

I have just had the problem sorted out on my Freelander, It took some time to find the problem but from start to finish it took just ONE HOUR.

The securing nut inside the car was completely free the welding had come apart.
The Nut was removed from the sub frame Bolt and a piece of metal welded in-place with a new nut welded in place.

Replaced sub frame bolt and took the car out for test drive, no more funny noises from the rear and no more cracking when reversing down ramps when turning.

JOB DONE LESS THAN ONE HOUR AND ONLY £25 bill. !!!
