Hi. I've got a 2004 TD5. When I select reverse the PDC beeps constantly (about once a second) regardless whether there's anything behind or not. I swopped out the control unit for one which I was assured worked fine. Still the same problem, constant beep in reverse. I noticed that the speaker had been replaced by a non-original item but I think its unlikely that is a problem (its only a speaker). I've removed the rear sensor harness and four sensors, cleaned them and tested them with a multimeter. The harness is ok and the resistance on each sensor is pretty close to the others. I then fitted each sensor in each harness socket in turn (16 options!!). They are all ticking away merrily. Plugged it all back together. Still the same problem - constant beep from the PDC. Has anyone got any ideas please??? Thanks, Colin

don't know if it's the same on the d2 as it is on mine

that when u select reverse , put ur ear to the sensors and the working ones u can hear them clicking

please ignore as i've just seen where u mention them clicking

will go and stand back in the corner

What if you dont select reverse but push the PDC switch once? ...still the same? ... also are your reverse lights working?
Thanks for responding. The reverse light is working fine. Switching ignition on and pressing the dash switch you get a longer beep to indicate the PDC is activated, then the beeps start and the amber light in the switch flashes to indicate an error. Press the switch again and the beep stops and the light goes out. Select reverse and the beeping starts and the light in the switch flashes to indicate error. Unless its my hearing a couple of the sensors are not clicking as loudly as the others, but they're definitely clicking. I don't mind buying replacements if they're definitely at fault but I'd hate to make the purchase and still have the same issue. The control unit I fitted came from a specialist breakers. They said the unit was good but I've obviously not heard it working. But it would be quite a coincidence if the replacement I fitted had exactly the same problem as the original.

If there's no bike rack or something additional on the spare wheel to disturb it's most probably a sensor if it's not a wiring issue or if the speaker's impedance is much different than the original the system might be mixed up...quite unlikely but possible

Looks like I'm going to have to shell out for some sensors! Thanks for your advice.

don't know how the d2 and d3 compare but can't believe the range of different sensors on ebay

some being the cheap chinese copies etc

had a problem with just one not working, got a new one still not working so had to opt for a new loom

there was me thinking it shouldnt be to bad of a job

how wrong i was , got to remove the bumper and some how get the side bolts out,

hardest bit now seems in getting thes stupid plastic trim fixings out, what fun they are

still all good fun , is a land rover after all

often wonder it would be good if a few of us got together and have a land rover workshop day

where we can help each other achieve jobs that are a lot easier with spare pairs of hands
