I'm thinking of making my own nudge bar for the back of our facelift model.
The rear lights on both corners (the ones in the bumper) are now cracked.

Did they actually sit down at LR and ask themselves, "Right lads, given this is an off roader aimed at day to day city use also. Where is the stupidest place we can put the rear lights so as to GUARANTEE they get bust every time someone barely nudges something?"
Did Rupert , or Aldgernon or Moonbeam Sky then pipe up, "I know chaps, lets put them in the most exposed part of the rear bumper. I know it's risky but the design lines will flow sooo much better don't you think?"

FFS.

Anyway....I want to make my own nudge bar. Out of round pipe bent to a suitable shape to run along below the door and come up and afford some protection to the bottom lights.
Has anyone done anything similar? Or know the best way to attach something like this?

Not seen anything myself. I believe I've seen the rear light guards are in aluminium as well as plastic. Those should help with light protection, without resorting to a rear nudge bar.

Without looking, I think the only place you could mount it would be to the subframe - like the tow bar gets attached.

Something like this I'm thinking of...

But in lighter tube. Probably about 35mm. (Depending on what I can make 'dissapear' from the works store)

Cheaper than the claims you'll get from the owners of whatever you're hitting. Hopefully it's not as common an occurrence as you imply!

Ive got a reversing kit in the garage. Had it for my old Jag but it got written off before I had a chanche to fit it.
I was thinking of fitting it but my daughter would still be capable of smacking it into something!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!
Wife has just called to say someone has reversed in to her in car park!!!
What the actual f***??
Thats it.. I've got a design for a new bumper...

I have a rear bar on but it does not sit proud enough to protect anything I should have made my own but it is getting increasingly difficult to get anything chromed although I could get it plastic coated.
