Our X reg 110 long wheelbase suffered a sudden stop during a long circuit just after lights at a roundabout - lock up on rear offside leaving a 3m skid on the surface- RAC arrive take wheel off and found no brake issues and suggested seizure of rear diff: lorried to local garage (good landy experience) and I noted that when offloading, the rear wheels revolved without any obvious resistance.
Garage checked today and could not find any surface evidence or lack of oil etc., and did test run without incident.

Is this a remote one off or is there some basic fault that might repeat ? Owned since new and well maintained and permanent future ownership desired so we need to do the right things by Jasper ! present mileage rising 85k and very few problems before. New front disks etc 2 years ago + rear pads. Lady wife needs comfort about this for obvious reasons.

I also have a high mileage RR Vogue 4.6 with LPG which works very well indeed.

Any advice is welcomed and will be passed to the garage.

If the diff etc is ok, no signs of excessive wear or back lash then i would be looking towards a problem with the brake calliper it's self or the bearings on the hub.
As it was only one side it wont be a prob with the balancing valve on the brakes hydraulic circuit as ther is only one pipe that leads to the two rear callipers,

Therefore i would expect it to be the calliper sticking i would remove the brake pads and have a good look at the piston and condition of the seals.

It might just have been a bit of crap that has stopped the piston from returning.
But check the bearings as well just in case

If had a binding brake the heat from this may have caused lockup, when cooled[time it takes RAC to arrive]all seems normal.Do what Andy mcd says.
