Hello All,

just recognized that the rear left looks lower than then the other three so was wondering if the damper
is dying or maybe the coil spring. If spring I'd assume it would be down already or not? Measured the distance from the tyre to the fender of 11cm and left rear only 8.5.

That's a long way out, actually about the difference between the standard and Sport suspension, so I'd be checking that it's not had a Sport strut installed.

Thanks @Nodge68. Sorry, thought I responded already to it. Went to the garage and they checked and said looks all good what they could see, i.e. the damper and the spring. He said maybe the mount might have scrambled or something like that.

There's clearly something not right, or it would be sitting level.
You can check it yourself easily.
Just count the number of coils in the springs both sides. They will have the same number of coils out of the factory.
If the lower side has less coils, then it's probably a replacement spring from sport Freelander.

Dampers don't affect height - it's the springs that do that. Springs can break, usually about half the bottom ring breaks (just where it starts to rise into the first coil) and disappears into the nearest ditch. Look closely at the bottom of the spring and of course count the coils.

Thanks both. I had a look, could count 4 on the left hand rear side and 5 on the RH rear side. Just thought to get some pictures. It looks different.

It's got the wrong spring on there. I suspect it's had a broken string at some point, and a replacement from a S sport was fitted, instead of the standard spring.
Just get a complete replacement standard strut fitted, as you'll need to change the shock too, as it's shorter than a standard one, unless of course you can still read the part number on the sticker, and it's correct.

I tried to clean the spring and out came a green color. As I couldn't find the color in the catalog I called LR this morning and was told three springs white, green and something else. I checked both rear sides and both had green color on, so I assume those are still the original ones and the left is broken even though I can't see anything. Is there some indicator on how to find if those are the ones originally supplied? The bloke from LR there would not be a sticker on it, only some stamp.

If they've both got the same colour marking, then the one with less coils has broken.
Just get another green marked spring and fit that, sorted. ;)
