Rear folding bed??

this is probably a really stupid question as im sure i would have already found an answer to it in the last 2 hours.......

is there anyone that sells a folding bed for the rear or am i gonna have to try and make one!!?? surely theres some way of fitting rear seats that will turn into a bet like in those horrible toyota things!!?? id much rather purchase something (if available) than having to spend months trying to fabricate something!!

There's a company that make a camper seat conversion kit by allowing both the front and rear seats of a 110 csw to fold flat allowing 2 beds. At 2 grand I would be making my own bed though.

lol :doh: i have just noticed i didnt put that its to go in a 110 at the moment it has no rear seats im looking to put in some (hopefully folding into some sort of bed) and windows!!

i did say i was a bit stupid!!

I remember seeing a seat/bed kit used on Wheeler Dealers to put rear seats in to a VDub van that then folded down into a bed. I think the kit supplied the mechanics and you added the squab and back so it could be made to fit almost anything. Can't remeber where they got it from tho, might be worth a search of the VDub sites.

Why not just use a piece of ply that fits between the wheel boxes, stick a couple of battens on it, fix some legs and throw an air bed on top

I'm crappy with fabricating things, but I made a bed system in about two hours (sounds quick but wait til you hear how simple it is). Got a 110 CSW by the way.

I folded the middle seats down flat but didn't fold them forward. Then in the back I made basically two small tables, from 2x2" wooden legs and 13mm plywood. The there were 3 legs on each side of each table. Three short legs go on the rear seat boxes. Three short legs go in the middle. (the reason for being two tables is that this way I can take them in and out).

So now we have a nice flat surface between the rear door and the middle row of seats. Now remember how I told you I folded the middle seats down flat already? A piece of plywood which can be kept on top of the "table" in the back fits nicely on top of these creating a nice flat bed from the rear door all the way to the front seats!

You have storage underneath and on top of the rear tables. A bed at night, and can use the seats in the daytime.

If you're interested I might sort my shed out later in the week and drag it out!
