I've had 2 rear diffs go in 300 miles, both have been the input bearing developing loads of play and spitting oil out.

Now I'm wanting to work out why this happens befor I rebuild it again,

It has a new wide angle prop with has only done around 500 miles
The company it came from has just said there's no way a prop shaft could cause this and then said if it has seized up then its tough as theres no warrenty as he's seen me off road in it,

I have a Detroit locker in the rear and 1st time it lasted 10 months befor the input went found the prop had some play so changed it for the new one, rebuilt the diff and less than 300 miles later I have exsactly the same problem,

2 people have said it might be my new prop,

1 person has said its proberbly the locker putting to much stress on everything,

Ideas please

It is a fitting problem. Might be cheaper to take it to someone that knows what they are doing.Sounds like you are not setting the back lash properly.Got to much play, slop in the ring pinion meshing and not tightening the pinion nut tight enough.

The Detroit locker is not your problem

Was originally a 4 bolt flange,

Diff was fine, removed crown ect and built it on to my locker, checked the run out on the crown wheel had 2 thou that's ok, never took the pinion out as the diff was in very good condition, built the diff and set the back lash to 5 thou

This isn't the 1st diff I've built up.

It's bin sweet as never been so smooth then after the last pay and play I noticed a vibration on my way home,

Ill remove the prop and check its not seized but it hadn't last time, could it be my +5 shocks that's killing it if my rear prop isn't long enough

Now its had some heavy use off road since it was built and I would have thought if I hadn't got it right it would is smashed the crown and pinion

I'm more annoyed ill have to go lay in the snow outside

Well bin thinking and reading, when I had pulled my old diff apart and my new from breakers yard if I have git the crown wheel mixed up, could this cause it as I've read that they are matching sets,

I'm not saying I have put the wrong one in its just another thought.

they are matched both have id numbers etched on them

Yeah I read your post somewhere eles, unlike some I do search lol, that's how I came up with the thought of it,

Ill have a check tomorrow if I get chance,

Can I have bin that stupid whilst rushing round in freezing temperatures and rain,

Wouldn't be the stupidest hing I'd ever done.
