hi im new to this forum and dont know where to start really, ive had my freelander 2.0 d for 3 years and all fine until about a mounth ago going down the motorway the transfer box went bang i got the car back home and changed the trasfer box and after reading many threads on here i also changed the viscous coupling and diff mounts but that was only the start of my problems 1 week later the diff was making a noise so i had the diff rebuilt with top make bearings but taking it for a run the diff got red hot and there is a knocking noise coming from the viscous coupling area so bought a second hand diff fitted and still have the same fault please help is there something i need to line up im at my witts end with the pile of sh*t

I dunt know fookal about freelanders, but lets rewind the tape a bit.

It only started doing this since you fitted the transfer box and viscous coupling. Could one of them be wrong some way, the only thing I can think causing the diff to overheat is stuck in 4x4 with the viscous coupling not working or the gear ratios are so far out that the viscous coupling cant cope. However I would have expected the tyres to be getting shredded.

Best I can do.:)
