Common rot fault we all know, rear arches when you open the back doors, one on the way out, one with a hole in it.

Been quoted £80 to patch them is this reasonable bearing in mind I don't weld?

Seems alot for patching, I would buy a new panel and get it renewed, however that could open up a can of worms. If its for an mot,get it patched and repair proper at a later date.

the guy seems to do pretty good work but I'll ask my regular mechanic, it seems like surface rust and a pretty clean hole if ever there was such a thing so I hope it tidies up enough. One of these things if it was in two months I'd have no problems getting panels and doing it right but now it's just a case of getting it roadworthy.

I would personally say learning to weld is a bigie for owning a Landrover. You can pick a half decent mig up rather cheap.

Where are you? Someone local might sort it out for you for the cost of materials and any expenses incurred.

I have the situation in hand temporarily, enough to get me by until I replace the panels.

But if anyone knows a welder around Glasgow or surrounding areas that can help out once I have those panels can you pm me a number or email address?
