After having a brilliant Disco 2 4.0 V8 Es several years ago I was lured to the dark side and having been running a L322 TD6 Range Rover for the last 3 years but miss the 7 seat option so am considering a Disco 3.
I've seen a relatively nice 4.4 Se and whilst I don't expect great mileage does anyone have any real world consumption figures and is there anything I need to carefully check before purchase?
Many Thanks, Ian

our works auto D3 tdv6 (I think its 2.6l) D3 does around 18mpg tanking along the motorway with a laden box trailer. I've never really took much interest any other figures because I don't pay for the fuel! However I do know that we had two of them and one spent far more time at the dealer's being repaired than it ever did on the road; handbrake disintegrating, gearbox collapsing, clutch failing etc etc, one issue after another. the other has been almost trouble free. luck of the draw I guess.

My father used to have one of these in the v8, on a combined used to see between 14 and 16 to the gallon if I remember correctly

It's around that ballpark anyway, but I'm thinking a 4.4 would more likely be a tdv8 be issue didn't they have the jaguar 4.2 v8 petrol?

Just thinking out loud due to lack of OP response :D

I really fancy a supercharge 4.2 V8 from the XKR.

Anyhow bit of a stupid question as anyone of us that run a V8 these days just has to accept the fuel bill that comes with them.

My D2 V8 averaged between 17-19mpg. 8-11 around town. Swapped it in for an Audi A8L again 4.2 and it was a little bit better but TBH you can either afford them or you can't as everyday cars and you either appreciate them or not as Second motors so put up with the fuel consumption.

Nowadays if you're worried about consumption, you can't afford it. That's why I have two diesels lol

I thought my onboard computer was broke the other day.....9.6 mpg!! 4.6 hse P38. :jaw:

I had an L322 with the 4.4 BMW petrol engine (which I think is different to the one in the D3). That got around 16 mpg in normal use, on one run to Kent I really nursed it along and got...................................18mpg.
