Anybody got any idea how to stop side slidin windows in me county stop rattlin off each other when goin along on rough surfaces?
Had a look to see if they can be removed from frames and be modified with draught excluder sealer type stuff but cant see how this can be easily done.
I leave any suggestions or ideas to you guys
Regards :D

Mine rattle a lot too, which really winds me up cos tis very loud and just at tickover is when they rattle most. I found either wedging a large lump of paper in a moments annoyance between the windows helped, or gaffa taping them shut until I can b bothered/afford to repalce them with better condition ones!

Well turning the radio up works well,
mine rattle like billy buggery, I wedged them temporarily with a rolled up plaster until I can be bothered to sort it. My drivers door pillar also jingles at certain levels of vibration, but I think they all add to the experience. ( at least that's what I keep telling myself )

You could try cutting some 3mm plastic into a right angled shape , stick some double sided tape on one side and shove it into the gap against yer window so that the tape sticks to the window and not the felt,it may stop it vibrating. ( the way I was thinking of going )

Alternatively remove the felt altogether and replace with some rubber strips ( not an easy job admitted )

My 90 had this problem and before I bought it from CharlesY he had taken care of this issue with plastic milk bottles.

Slice a milk bottle up so your left with a panel of plastic, then slice it into strips about an inch wide, make two partial slices along it leaving you with 1/4 of an inch, 1/2 an inch and then another 1/4.

Bend these now so that you have a C section piece of plastic - now insert 1 of these into each of the sliders under the windows and jam them in.

They will stay in place when you open and close the windows and will jam the glass so it can't rattle.

Thats a plan that i think I will try... The door pillar rattle on mine was fixed by tightening up the bolt that holds the side panel down, cos it reshaped it enough to stop it. The other side now has a nice piece of garden pond rubber liner in it, keeps a draft out too!

Thanks for that was going to try and re-run new fely, but was unsure how to proceed

6feet of felt from woollies trim for each window, less than a tender with postage, dig out old felt and stick in new stuff with textile glue. Rattle sorted.

I have a spare pair of window units that I was going to refelt and tint and sell on for a small fee and exchange of your old ones, not had the time yet tho.

I did mine with the units out when I had it sprayed, bit Fidley putting it back together. I believe you can do it with the windows in situ but I wanted to tint the glass properly whilst out.

Fixed mine by just cutting a 2 x 3 in strip out of plastic milk bottle, folding it over and sliding it over the window. Will get round to fixing it properly later but for now the rattle has gone

what about removing the whole lot and replacing with a piece of tinted laminated glass?

put string in rubbers round. does anyone ever open them???

Wow...

4 years on, my windows still have their pond liner in the frame, and they have been opened once since by an enthusiastic friend. Were then closed, and not been opened again.

Still planning on replacing them with propper windows (mine are after market?!) but one day... need to paint the landy again at the same time I think...
