Hello All,

Merry Christmas etc..

Been in my garage making the best use of my time off work trying to fix the sunroof and finding things rotten and mechanisms obstinate.

Anyhoo a while back I found a 'guide' (2017 article) regards replacing the glass and mechanisms..might even have found the link on here, commented etc but quickly forgot about it all. so I attach it below here for reference. Apologies if this is 'old hat'...

My 'journey' continues and the mechanisms are slowly releasing but I will be going back to work soon so may have to abandon the 'fix' for the time being. One of the mechanisms doesn't go backwards but is much easier to lift whilst the other does go backs wards some what...its frustrating as this is down to the smallest amount of corrosion and dirt...that is impossible to access for cleaning. Having left the mechanisms in a diesel bath this has helped immensely although still some ways to go...It's not the nicest of smells but 'needs must'...I promised a 'super bodge' regards the glass and I haven't disappointed I think..its amazing what 250g of body filler, a cut up loyalty card (spatula) some sanding blocks and primer and black paint can do...I removed as much rust as I could beforehand..I haven't posted photos so as not to influence any impresionable souls who may stumble across this 'post'. Hopefully this will last a few months until funds allow the purchase of new/second hand/the originals are fixed sourced..the frame drain holes are themselves now just 'holes' (except one that looks like it has never seen water) but its good enough to go back in as is after some paint, seam sealer etc... Unlike the 'article' I opted for the 'remove the interior to get at the thing' strategy...which I'm glad as I would never have got the thing out without destroying the frame (I think). I would like to get these mechanisms working (without destroying them) as the replacements are eye wateringly expensive as is the glass. My hands have taken a pummeling (soft truck driving examples) not helped by a bit of diesel and freezing cold conditions...'Mañana es otra dia...aver si tango bueno suerte..?'

In the meantime...'Peace' everybody
