Hi Guys
Started my Rangie up Sunday, started first time, drove to the bottom of my drive....it stopped and hasn't gone since.
Have a spark at the plugs, fuel to the rail....tries to fire but won't run.
Tried a different ECU and replaced the fuel relay....still no joy!
Any ideas???!!!

A bit more info might help. What year, what engine? Any other symptoms? Have you got fuel? It might simply be it has flooded (yes it can happen) give the old method a try, put foot flat on floor and crank it over and see if it catches.

If not then some diagnosis might be needed.

Hi,
It's a 3.9 Efi 1993 Auto.
Fuel pump is suppling fuel up to the fuel rail, took the fuel line off to confirm. Also there's a strong fuel smell when cranking it over.
Tried the foot to the floor method.....no effect.
It will try and fire but won't fire up.
It feels like the injectors aren't opening.
Replaced the fuel relay, as I've had that before on one of my other play things but no different.
I also plugged in another ECU just to eliminate that and again no difference.
Any thoughts.....other than set light to it!

Try loosening off the dizzy clamp bolt and advancing the ignition a small amount. Best done if you have an assistant who can crank the engine while you turn the dizzy. Hopefully that will enable you to get it started, then I suspect you'll need to make busy with a multi-meter to check all the sensors/inputs to the ecu. Don't forget to check/reset timing if you get it fired up and check your dizzy is working properly (vac advance and mechanical advance) also check for induction air leaks.

Thanks Kev, tried most of that already.......still no joy!
Have got a friend coming over next week......hopefully he'll have better luck!!!
Thanks for the help anyway!

Pull a coupla plugs out and check if they`re wet; that should show whether or not the injectors are opening shouldn`t it? At the same time check the sparks are really big `n` juicy, as a weak spark will fail under pressure. Another old trick is to warm all the plugs up in an oven, put `em in quick & then try it. Best not done when cooking sunday roast tho`.
