Today I went to change the plastic cup under the gear leaver/ stick and found the turet/ gear cup /yoke. Houseing full of oil to lubricate the mechansum. (oil went everywere haha luvkily tunnel was ouy)
My question is is this normal I was expecting greese. And what should I put back in. Same case in the transfer leaver housing.

Thanks in advance.

its common but it shouldnt theres an o ring on the top selector shaft(frc4951) that should stop the oil travelling that far, shafts should normally just be greased

Can that much come up from th box It was full above the yoke gasket hence it came rushing out as I ligted the hole assembly as one. On one of my other posts I think I have a pitcture. Normal lithium greeae in yoke with the cup? And for the transfer selector? Can I change this oring easyily or is it a box out joby?

yes it splashes on to the shaft and when you change gear some is dragged forward, after long enough front housing fills, you can change the o ring but selector top needs removing which means lifting seat box or dropping g/box off its mounts, worth checking box breather isnt blocked

Thank you for explaining this. I fort maybe someone had filled it up. As I found very little if no greese in there. So normal everyday greese fine to use? Also would this effect the transfer selector too as that had oil in to. Or are they joined?
