Just removed the props and Vcu from the Freelander - all noises gone now....

The rear diff needs a set of support bearings, for sure, and a replacement Vcu and bearings were allowed for when I bought the car.

Has anyone swopped props for the Vcu from one car to another? I'm guessing as long as you keep the same alignment between each pair it should't be a problem?

Is there a definitive way of checking the rear diff? ie. I have two to 'play' with so I can get a replacement bearings kit, but if I can verify one is OK I can put it back on for the winter whilst I take my time restoring the other?

Thanks.

Peeps turn the inputs/outputs and check for play. Like worn teeth allowing more movement before the output turns.

Thanks. I'm going to have a go at rebuilding one if the other is useable for now.

Quite a bit of 'tinkering' to do before the snow arrives - and I hope I can source a reliable supplier from the UK.

Freelander-spares-UK-601 on ebay seem to have everything I need.

I'd do some research into suppliers some are rip off merchants!

Ha, ha, ha.....Yes, I'd read about them, just kidding - I thought that might get a few responses ;)

I've used other ebay suppliers for oil filters, Discs, pads etc . However, I'm using bell engineering for the VCU and support bearings.
